Terms of Use
Version 1.2 · in effect from 1 November 2026
This is a translation of the Italian version. If the two versions differ, the Italian version prevails, except for the consumer protection rules of the country where you live.
These Terms govern the use of the Voltvale app for Android and of this website. In the app we ask you to accept them with a dedicated box: we record the version accepted, the date and the time. If you don’t accept them you can’t use the app beyond the first trial lesson. Read them together with the Privacy Policy.
1. Who we are and what these Terms are
Voltvale is an educational game that teaches electronics and Arduino to beginners with short lessons and interactive exercises. It is developed and run by Emanuele Antonio Mannara, a natural person, Via Giuseppe della Corte 24B, 84013 Cava de' Tirreni (SA), Italy; contact: info@voltvale.app. In these Terms “we” means him and “you” means the person using the service.
To improve the game we record how the app is used (screens, times, lessons, phone), linking it to your account: the details are in section 4.9 of the Privacy Policy, and you can turn this off in the settings.
These Terms are the contract between you and us for the free use of Voltvale and for the Voltvale Plus subscription. Payment for the subscription is a separate contract with Google, governed by the Google Play Terms of Service (see the Plus section).
2. Who can use the service
- You must be at least 16 years old. By accepting the Terms you declare that you are. The reason for this choice is explained in the Privacy Policy.
- The service is for personal and study use, not commercial use.
- To subscribe to Plus you must be able to make purchases on Google Play under Google’s rules and the law of your country.
3. Account, guest and security
- You can play as a guest, with an account that has no email or name: your progress is saved on the server, but it can be lost if you lose, reset or change your phone, because we have no way of knowing it’s you. Until you choose how to continue, or without a connection, it stays only on the phone.
- You can sign in with a code sent by email, with Google or with Facebook. You are responsible for the security of your mailbox and of the accounts you use to sign in: don’t share the codes you receive. If you think someone has used your account, write to us immediately.
- An account is personal: don’t sell it, don’t give it away and don’t use more than one to gain an advantage on the leaderboard.
- You can delete your account at any time from the app (Settings → Delete account) or from this page. Deletion erases progress and profile and can’t be undone.
4. Pseudonym and rules of conduct
Your pseudonym can be seen by other players on the weekly leaderboard. For this reason it must not:
- be offensive, vulgar, discriminatory, violent or sexually explicit;
- contain the real name, email, phone number or other personal data of you or other people;
- imitate other people, Voltvale staff or third-party trademarks;
- contain advertising, links or references to illegal content.
In addition, you must not:
- cheat: falsify points or times, use automated programs, or modify the app or its communications with the server;
- try to access other users’ data or the restricted parts of the service, or circumvent its protections;
- overload the service with automated requests or use it to send spam;
- copy, resell or redistribute the content of the service, except as the law allows in any case (for example quotations or exceptions for interoperability).
A pseudonym that is offensive or against these rules can be rejected by the system, reported by other players, changed by us and blocked. If you break these rules we can also cancel points obtained unfairly or suspend the account (see the Suspension section).
5. Educational content and safety with real circuits
The lessons deal with low-voltage circuits: batteries, LEDs, resistors, breadboards and Arduino boards powered via USB. We do our best to make sure they are correct, but they are a learning path for beginners, not a complete technical manual.
- Never work on mains voltage (230 V) or on electrical systems on the basis of these lessons: it is dangerous and requires skills and qualifications that the game doesn’t provide.
- There are risks even at low voltage: short-circuited batteries (especially lithium ones) heat up and can catch fire; components fitted backwards or without a resistor can break or burn you; a soldering iron burns. Always check values and the manufacturer’s instructions, work on a non-flammable surface and disconnect the power before changing a circuit.
- If you are a beginner, get help from an experienced person. Voltvale doesn’t replace professional training, a safety course or technical advice and doesn’t issue qualifications or certifications.
If you find a mistake in a lesson, write to us: we’ll correct it as soon as possible.
6. Intellectual property and license to use
The texts, lessons, characters, graphics, sounds, name and logo of Voltvale and the app’s code are ours or used under license and are protected by copyright and other applicable laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license, revocable under these Terms, to use the app and the website for your own learning. Some components (for example fonts and software libraries) are distributed under open licenses, which remain valid for those components. Third-party trademarks and names mentioned (for example Arduino, Google, Facebook) belong to their respective owners and don’t indicate a relationship with them.
If you send us suggestions or reports, we may use them freely to improve the service, with no obligation to you.
7. Free service, hearts, gems and virtual items
- Lessons can be followed free of charge.
- Hearts: a mistake costs a heart; hearts refill over time, by reviewing, with a rewarded video or with gems. With Plus they are unlimited.
- Gems, experience points, streaks, components, chests and streak freezes are game elements. They have no economic value, can’t be bought with money, sold, exchanged, transferred to others or converted into money, and don’t give any right to refunds.
- We can change their rules and quantities to keep the game balanced. Some elements, such as the mistakes to review, are saved only on the phone and can be lost when you change phones or uninstall the app. The rest of your progress, with an account, is saved on the server. If you delete your account you lose them all.
8. Voltvale Plus subscription
- What it includes today: unlimited hearts, no advertising and one extra streak freeze a month. Lessons remain free for everyone.
- Who sells it and how you pay: the purchase takes place on Google Play with Google’s payment system. Under the Google Play Terms, in the European Economic Area the seller is Google Commerce Limited, which collects the payment and issues the receipt. We don’t see your payment method details.
- Plans and prices: monthly (currently €4.99) or annual (currently €29.99), VAT included. The price shown by Google Play before you confirm applies, and it may vary by country.
- Auto-renewal: the subscription renews by itself at the end of each period (month or year) and Google charges the price, until you cancel it.
- 7-day free trial: for those who haven’t already had one, if the offer is available. If you don’t cancel before the end of the trial, the chosen plan starts with the first charge. If you have turned on notifications we send you a reminder on the fifth day, but cancelling remains your responsibility. Under Google Play’s rules, if you cancel during the trial the benefits may end immediately.
- How to cancel: from the Play Store, in Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. After cancelling, the benefits last until the end of the period already paid for; there are no refunds for the unused part, except as provided by Google Play’s rules or by law.
- Right of withdrawal: as a consumer in the EU you can withdraw within 14 days of purchase (Arts. 52 et seq. of the Italian Consumer Code), with a statement to Google Commerce Limited or with the form in the Google Play Terms. For a service that started at your request before the end of the 14 days, you may have to pay for the part already used. If the subscription begins with a free trial you can withdraw only once, provided you were informed of the price payable after the trial. Refunds are handled by Google under its Terms and Google Play’s refund policies. All rights that the law doesn’t allow to be excluded remain in any case; if you have a problem you can also write to us.
- Price changes: any increases are communicated to you by Google Play in advance, under its rules, and you can cancel before they apply.
- Subscription and account: Plus is linked to your Voltvale account. If you play as a guest and lose your phone we can’t link it to a new account: so as not to lose it, link an email (or Google or Facebook) from the settings. With Restore purchases in the app you can reactivate it on the same account.
- Deleting your account doesn’t cancel the subscription: the subscription on Google Play continues and renews. Cancel it first from the Play Store.
- Changes to the benefits: we may improve Plus at any time. If we reduce the benefits significantly we’ll notify you in the app at least 30 days in advance and you can cancel the subscription before the next renewal.
9. Rewarded videos
When you run out of hearts you can choose to watch a short advertising video to get one back, up to 3 times a day. It is always optional, advertising doesn’t appear at any other time and Plus subscribers don’t see it. The videos are provided by Google AdMob and aren’t controlled by us: we aren’t responsible for the products advertised. You receive the reward only by watching the video to the end; if the video isn’t available the other options remain. How the data is processed is explained in the Privacy Policy.
10. Availability, updates and changes to the service
- We work to keep the service running at all times, but there may be interruptions for maintenance, faults or external causes. During maintenance the app may show a notice and not be usable.
- For security or compatibility reasons we may require you to install the latest version of the app before you can keep playing, and we may temporarily disable some features or lessons.
- We may change the service (content, features, graphics) to improve it or to comply with the law. If a change significantly reduces what you are entitled to as a Plus subscriber, the Plus section applies.
- If we decide to close Voltvale we’ll notify you in the app at least 30 days in advance and stop Plus renewals; for any part of the subscription already paid for and not used, the law and Google Play’s rules apply.
11. Suspension and closure of the account
- You can stop using the service whenever you want and delete your account (see the Account section).
- We may suspend or close an account if it seriously or repeatedly breaks these Terms (for example offensive pseudonyms, cheating, attacks on the service), if required by law or an authority, or if necessary to protect other users. A suspended account sees a notice in the app and can’t sync or take part in the leaderboard.
- When possible we tell you the reason. If you think it is a mistake, write to us: we review the case by hand.
- If we close your account by our own decision without any breach on your part and you have an active Plus subscription, we help you obtain from Google Play a refund for the unused part.
12. Legal guarantees and liability
- As a consumer you are entitled to the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and services (Arts. 135-octies et seq. of the Italian Consumer Code). If something doesn’t work as described, write to us: we’ll fix it, and in the cases provided by law you are entitled to a price reduction or to terminate the contract.
- Outside these rights, the free service is provided as is, with no further guarantees on learning results or on the absence of errors.
- We aren’t liable for damage resulting from using the content in a way other than as indicated in the Safety section, from causes beyond our control, or from third-party services (Google Play, Google, Facebook, network operators).
- These limitations do not apply in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence, to personal injury and in all cases in which the law doesn’t allow liability to be limited. The mandatory rights granted to consumers by the Italian Consumer Code and other rules always remain in force.
13. Privacy
How we process personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy.
14. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms for changes to the service or the law, or to correct errors. The version and date at the top indicate the one in force. For important changes we notify you in the app before they take effect and ask you to accept the new version; we record the new acceptance as described in the Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree you can stop using the service, delete your account and cancel the Plus subscription before the renewal. Changes don’t have retroactive effect.
15. Applicable law, jurisdiction and complaints
- These Terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer resident in another EU country, you keep the mandatory protections of the law of your country.
- For disputes with a consumer, the competent court is that of the place where the consumer resides or is domiciled, if in Italy (Art. 66-bis of the Italian Consumer Code).
- Complaints: write to us at info@voltvale.app: we reply within 30 days. For payments and refunds you can also contact Google Play directly.
- You can also use a recognized alternative dispute resolution (ADR) body, but we aren’t obliged to join one and we’ll consider it case by case. The European ODR platform for online disputes was closed by the European Commission on 20 July 2025 (Regulation (EU) 2024/3228); the list of ADR bodies is available on the European Commission’s website.
16. Final provisions and contacts
- If a clause is invalid, the others remain valid.
- We don’t waive a right just because we didn’t enforce it immediately.
- We may transfer the service and these Terms to another person or company that continues to run it, notifying you first; your rights won’t be reduced and you can delete your account if you don’t agree.
- The Terms are available in Italian and English. If the two versions differ, the Italian version prevails, except for the consumer protection rules of the country where you live. For questions write to info@voltvale.app.
